Henri Rousseau

Henri Rousseau (1844–1910) was a self-taught French post-Impressionist known for vivid jungle scenes. His distinctive style, marked by lush vegetation and exotic animals, earned him the nickname "Le Douanier." Despite no formal training, Rousseau's imaginative approach influenced later artists, particularly the Surrealists. Notable works include "The Sleeping Gypsy" and "The Dream."
